Day 01 :

Welcome to the Coast (Mombasa)

Meet & greet on arrival; transfer to hotel (brief orientation talk: safety, customs, itinerary).

Old Town walking orientation with local guide: narrow streets, Swahili architecture, some artisan shops (gentle 60–90 min). (educational: Swahili architecture & trading history).

Sunset dhow cruise (1.5 hours): short cultural intro to dhow heritage, cocktails or mocktails. Guests get a soft intro to maritime history and great photo ops.

Day 02 :

Fort Jesus, Markets & Swahili Cooking

Guided visit to Fort Jesus (UNESCO-listed): history, museum exhibits, time for photos. (educational: Portuguese, Omani influence & coastal trade).
Market visit + Swahili cooking masterclass: guided walk in a local market (fish, spices, coconut, tamarind); hands-on cooking session where guests prepare a 3-dish Swahili lunch (e.g., pilau/mahindi, coconut fish, kachumbari, desserts). Lunch follows. (4 hours total).
Time to rest at the hotel/pool.
Night option: Taarab & storytelling night or local music—bring in a small troupe for an intimate performance.

Day 03 :

Mangroves, Conservation & Hotel Leisure

Mangrove boardwalk & education with a community guide (explain tidal ecology, local livelihoods, sustainable fishing). A short boat trip into the creeks is possible. (90–180 min).

Hotel activity slot — choose two: beach volleyball/mix, yoga by the sea, cultural dance taster, or kids’ craft time for families. (We plan hotel-led programs so guests have meaningful options without leaving the property.)

Day 04 :

Transfer to Diani OR Lamu (guest choose their preffered experience)

Option A — Diani (south coast)

Morning coastal transfer (approx 1–2 hrs depending on start point).
Afternoon village immersion (Ukunda market visit + family cooking or herbal walk).
Free to enjoy the hotel; soft Welcome dinner featuring a coastal fusion menu

Option B — Lamu (island, slower pace)

Short flight or boat to Lamu; Old Town guided walk, donkey-ride optional, visit dhow yard to learn dhow-building crafts.

Day 05 :

Marine Park or Island Hopping

If Diani: Kisite-Mpunguti marine trip — traditional dhow to snorkelling sites, guided marine naturalist on board, picnic lunch on a sandbank, coral & dolphin spotting. (Half to full day).
If Lamu: Island-hopping by dhow through the archipelago — Takwa ruins stop, Manda boatyards, cultural chat with local fisherman; swim/snorkel where appropriate.

Return for a leisure evening; optional night-time manta/bioluminescence walk if seasonally available (seasonal & weather dependent).

Day 06 :

Craft, Conservation & Community

Hands-on workshop: join local artisans (weaving, carving, boat model building) — guests take a small souvenir they made. (educational: craft techniques & socio-economic context).

Meet a local community project or school (option to contribute small supplies or lessons) — short exchange session (pre-arranged, respectful)
